| COASTAL SKIPPER - Ideal for those who have completed a Competent Crew practical course or dinghy sailors who want to go on to do a Day Skipper practical course. The course provides a good grounding in the theory of safely skippering a small yacht. The student will learn pilotage, basic chart work, meteorology, "rules of the road", emergency procedures and yacht management. YACHTMASTER OFFSHORE - A more advanced course, the syllabus of which includes chartwork, meteorology, a thorough knowledge of the "rules of the road", vessel stability, seamanship and safety. YACHTMASTER OCEAN - This is the top course for those who have their Offshore Yachtmaster's Certificate, and wish to learn celestial navigation, world meteorology, oceanography and ocean passage planning. RADAR OPERATOR'S COURSE - The student will be instructed in the principles of radar and will be trained, on a simulator, to use radar for coastal navigation and collision avoidance. GMDSS VHF RADIO TRAINING (SRC) - The student will be trained in the use of DSC/VHF radio telephony for making routine calls, safety and urgency calls and for sending and handling distress alerts. Also taught is the care and maintenance of equipment, the use of EPIRBs, SARTs and Navtex, as well as the rules and regulation that govern the use of radio equipment. RYA ELECTRONIC NAVIGATION EQUIPMENT (ENE) MODULE - This module is included in the Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore shorebased courses.The student will be trained, on a simulator, in the use of modern electronic equipment found on yachts.
